Fruit harvested from partner growers in California.

Pale gold in color.

Expressively floral bouquet and pleasantly aromatic of honeysuckle and lilac.

Semi-sweet on the tongue exhibiting crisp acidity. 4.1% RS

Citrusy layered on the palate with notes of lemon-lime, pink grapefruit, key lime, and star fruit, finishing with lingering tart notes of green apple and bosc pear.

12.5% ABV

$17 a bottle (at the winery).

The 2019 is perhaps more pleasantly balanced than the 2017 and 2018 vintages. This vintage is delightfully refreshing and elegantly balanced.

2019 Chenin Blanc from Biltmore Estate Winery

Biltmore Estate Winery is the most visited winery in The U.SA. A tasting is included in the Biltmore Estate price of admission.

Biltmore Estate currently with 40+ acres under vine grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and has recently planted a vineyard of Petit Manseng. Area viticulturalist are seeing Petit Manseng grow very well in the Western North Carolina climate.

Blend of Riesling, Gerwertztraminer, and Muscat Canelli

Pale lemon in color.

Delicate nose of honeysuckle, pina colada, mango, key lime pie, and watermelon jolly rancher.

Bright, crisp, lively, and semi-sweet with reasonably balanced acidity.

On the palate bursting with tropical notes, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, pink grapefruit, honeysuckle, peach, ginger, and lingering lemon-lime on the finish.

12.5% ABV

2.2% Residual Sugar

Bright floral and tropical aromas.

Semi-sweet with refreshingly crisp acidity.

Layered on the palate with notes of lemon-lime, green apple, bosc pear, star fruit, pink grapefruit, and pineapple.

12.5% ABV.

We enjoyed this vintage, perhaps more so than the 2017 Chinen Blanc from Biltmore. We still feel it was lacking some balance.

Riesling – Biltmore Estate

Our wine tonight is the Riesling from Biltmore Estate Winery in Asheville, North Carolina.

Vintage 2018

Pale yellow in color.

Nose of apricots, honeysuckle, peaches, and fresh pear.

Crisp, semi-sweet with balanced acidity.

Flavor notes of Granny Smith Apples, pears, wildflower honey, lemon, and cantaloupe, finishing with more minerality.

13.5% ABV. (not a typo)

This one is really enjoyable, better than most Rieslings in the under $20 category.

Biltmore Estate winemaker Sharon Fenchak hit it out of the ballpark with this vintage. Biltmore does grow several acres of Riesling on the estate. Though, this wine isn’t produced entirely with Estate grown fruit, sourcing of the fruit is critical to producing high quality wines.

Christmas White – Biltmore Estate

Our wine tonight is the Christmas at Biltmore White Wine from Biltmore Estate Winery.

Blend of Muscat Canelli, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, and Viognier.

Grape sourced from California.

Vintage: 2018

Soft pale yellow in color.

Semi-sweet.

Nose of freshly sliced pears, peaches and cream, red grapefruit, ginger, honeysuckle, and rose petals.

Gewürztraminer is prominent and easily detectable in the nose.

Flavor notes of fresh baked hot apple pie, ginger snaps, cantaloupe, tangerine, pineapple, lychee, lemon drops, and big hints of dried apricots finishing with lingering notes of soft herbs and spice.

12.5% ABV

Pale yellow in color.

Enticing floral aromas of violets, lavender, and honeysuckle.

Semi-sweet.

Flavor notes of grapefruit, peach, pear, and lime, while finishing softly with hints of nutmeg.

12.5 % ABV.

Century Sweet – Biltmore

Our wine tonight is the Century Sweet White Wine from Biltmore Estate Winery.

Blend of Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Muscat Canelli, and Symphony.

Very citrusy nose, lemon, pink grapefruit, mandarin orange, though also presenting complex aromas of minerals and early spring wildflowers.

Flavor notes of green apples, blood oranges, honeydew melons, tangerines, lemons, limes, and finishing much like a banana cream custard.

This wine is less than perfectly balanced, sweetness is overpowering at 2.2% residual sugar.

12.5% ABV

Christmas at Biltmore Red – Biltmore Estate Winery

Our wine tonight is the 2017 Christmas at Biltmore Red from Biltmore Estate Winery.

Off-dry blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, & Zinfandel

Nose of ripe red cherry, medium bodied, medium-high tannins, bursting with fruit flavors of cherry, red plum, and pomegranate.
